Keep your hair happy this summer: DIY swim spray and detangler

Summer is here and that means making a splash in the pool, winning epic water fights, and endless playtime at the beach. All that can’t-miss summer fun is worth it, but it can leave hair feeling dry and tangled.

Don’t give up on looking fabulous and fresh during the warm weather! These essential oil recipes are here to keep hair happy while you play. Check out the DIY recipes below!

 

Essential oil detangler spray

Say goodbye to tangles with this naturally derived detangler spray that will simplify your get-ready routine.

  • 2-ounce glass spray bottle
  • 5 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 5 drops Lavender
  • 5 drops Rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon argan oil (jojoba oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, or coconut oil are great alternatives)
  • Alcohol-free witch hazel
  1. Combine essential oils and carrier oil in the spray bottle.
  2. Fill the remainder of the bottle with witch hazel.
  3. Shake well, spray hair with the mixture, and then comb through.
  4. Enjoy your sweet-smelling, tangle-free hair!
Ylang Ylang, Lavender, & Rosemary Essential Oils--Young Living Essential Oils

Swim spray

Ditch chlorine-tinted hair and protect your luscious locks while making a statement at your favorite water park.

  • 2-ounce spray bottle
  • 2 tablespoons natural conditioner, like Copaiba Vanilla Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Warm distilled water
  • 5 drops Rosemary
  1. Add 2 tablespoons of conditioner to the spray bottle.
  2. Fill the rest of the bottle with warm distilled water.
  3. Add Rosemary essential oil and shake bottle to mix.
  4. To use, spray the mixture onto damp hair and then comb through before a dip in the pool.
