Vitality Oils Conversion Tip
There are so many wonderful recipes out there where you can easily substitute your Young Living Vitality Oils for the same fresh or dried ingredient; try it in some of your own favorites. There isn’t a hard rule for how to do this. All of our tastes in strength in flavor are different. When in doubt try less. You can always add more if you like.
When you are cooking with Vitality essential oils, keep in mind that essential oils are volatile. This means that the oil molecules want to escape into the air; they will dissipate. When you add heat to the equation, it makes them escape more quickly. With certain protein-based dishes like chicken, I find that I get more flavor when I add the Vitality oils to the dishes when they are finished. When I have something that I have to refrigerate, such as a fruit salad, I’ll add the oil just before serving. Experiment – see what works for you.
Here is a chart to help you with Vitality oil conversion. Again, it is a guideline – flavor to your liking.
- 1 Citrus Fruit, juiced = 10 to 15 Drops of a Vitality oil
- 1 Tablespoon Herbs or Spices = 1 Drop or less of a Vitality oil.
- 1 Teaspoon Herbs or Spices = Dip a toothpick in the Vitality oil. Swirl the toothpick through the wet ingredients and mix.

Take 3 times daily
- 2 drops Peppermint Vitality in a gelatin capsule
Chocolate Peppermint Patties
Chocolate and peppermint is such a winning combo. What I don’t like about store-bought Peppermint Patties is all of the extra garbage ingredients in there. Have you ever looked at the ingredient list? Here is a much healthier version for you to enjoy.
- 2 cups organic virgin coconut oil; room temperature
- 1/2 cup honey
- 5-10 drops Peppermint Vitality™ oil
- 3 dark chocolate bars, 3 oz each, a minimum of 72% cacao
- Mix all of the ingredients except the chocolate bars, in a medium sized bowl
and stir until well mixed.
- Melt the chocolate bars in a double boiler until it turns into a thick liquid.
- Line a mini muffin tin with mini muffin/candy liners. Dependent on how
thick you want your patties to be, will determine if you will need one or two
- Fill each liner with about 1 teaspoon of melted chocolate to coat the
bottom of each liner. Put mini cupcake pan into the freezer for about 5
minutes to let the chocolate to solidify.
- Remove from freezer then scoop about 1 tablespoon of the
coconut/peppermint mixture into each liner. Put the muffin pan into the
freezer to let it solidify.
- Remove from freezer and top with the remaining melted chocolate.
- Return to freezer for about 10-15 minutes to let it solidify. Store in the
- When ready to serve, take out of the refrigerator and remove the liner to
expose the pretty indentation lines.
- Keep in the refrigerator or freezer when not serving so that the chocolate
doesn’t melt again.
Now, here is the really important point-take a minute and enjoy the burst of flavor in your mouth.
Chocolate Peppermint Bark
- 24 oz white chocolate chips or chunks
- 24 oz. dark chocolate chips or chunks
- 10 peppermint candy canes crushed
- 10-12 drops Peppermint Vitality essential oil parchment paper
- Optional- cellophane bags; label
- In a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate chips. If you do not have one, place the dark chocolate in a glass mixing bowl and fit it snuggly on top of a pot of water. Allow the water to come to a boil, and the chocolate to melt. Stir until smooth in texture.
- Pour the dark chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread out evenly. Let cool in the fridge.
- While the dark chocolate cools, repeat step #1 with the white chocolate chips. When they are all melted and smooth in texture, remove from heat and let sit for 2 minutes to cool. Add the essential oils after the 2 minutes has passed.
- Remove the dark chocolate from the refrigerator. Spread the melted white chocolate and essential oil mixture directly on top of the dark chocolate. Smooth to the edges. Place back in the fridge for 5 minutes.
- Remove from fridge. Sprinkle crumbled candy canes evenly over the white chocolate. Gently press them down into the chocolate. Place back in the fridge until it is completely set.
- Break the bark into 2-3 inch pieces.
- If giving for gifts, place desired amount into cellophane bags.

Chocolate Peppermint Mousse
Here is a tasty, yet super simple, 3 ingredient Chocolate Peppermint Mousse.
- 1 1/2 cups roughly chopped dark chocolate (60% cocoa)
- 1 1/2 cups full fat coconut milk from a can (or you could use coconut cream)
- 6-8 drops Peppermint Vitality™ essential oil, to taste optional ingredients for garnish-whipped cream and/or chopped dark
- Melt chocolate over a double boiler, stirring throughout.
- Once the chocolate is melted, pour in the coconut milk (or cream) and
Peppermint Vitality essential oil. Using the whisk, mix the ingredients
together until they are well blended.
- Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
- Remove from the refrigerator. Using a hand mixer, blend on low to medium
speed to fluff up the mousse.
- Portion out in small serving glasses or ramekins.
- Optional: top with whipped cream and/or chopped chocolate.

Guilt-Free Peppermint Brownies
These fudgy peppermint brownies may look and taste like the brownies you love, but they’re free of the things that your waistline doesn’t. We’ve taken out the flour, butter, and refined sugar and replaced them with wholesome ingredients such as coconut oil, honey, Peppermint Vitality™, and black beans. Yes—we said black beans! They may seem like a strange addition to a sweet recipe, but black beans provide a soft, gooey, fudgy texture and have almost no taste—allowing the bold flavors of the cocoa powder and Peppermint Vitality to shine through. But don’t take our word for it, give this flourless peppermint brownie recipe a try! Your taste buds and waistline will thank you.
- 1 15-ounce can low-sodium black beans
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3 eggs
- 2 drops Peppermint Vitality essential oil
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Rinse and drain black beans.
- Melt coconut oil on stove until clear.
- Blend all ingredients except eggs in food processer until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, lightly whisk eggs until well beaten.
- Fold into chocolate mixture.
- Pour mixture into a greased 8×8 pan and bake 25–30 minutes.
- Let cool 15 minutes then cut.
- Let cool another 15 minutes and serve.
