Valor Essential Oil Blend

Valor is one of the original blends formulated by Young Living Founder D. Gary Young and is a long-standing member favorite. Each essential oil in the blend was carefully selected for its unique aromatic and topical benefits: Frankincense for its uplifting, earthy aroma and skin-smoothing properties; Black Spruce for its grounded, woodsy aroma; Blue Tansy for its inspiring aromatic profile; Geranium for its sweet, floral aroma; and Camphor Wood for its skin-benefiting properties and strong, herbaceous scent. This powerful, synergistic blend with a transformative aroma has contributed to its strong legacy as a key part of Young Living’s proprietary Raindrop Technique®.

Diffuser Recipes

Notes:

These are approximate drops.  Adjust these recipes to your needs.  If the recipe is too strong for you, add fewer drops.  Do you need more?  Just add more, but no more than 8-12 drops for all of our diffusers with the exception of the Aria diffuser which requires 15-25 drops.

Tip:  When you first begin diffusing, start with less and then build to more if desired.

Ultimate Soothing Bath Soak

Are you looking for an ultimate bath soak? No need to look elsewhere because I’ve got you covered with this luxurious soak.  You know those days when you need a little bit more than just dropping Valor directly into the bath.  This is for the days where your skin is a little on the dry side; a little rough and irritated.  The powdered milk contains protein and lactic acid, which gently exfoliate.  The oat flour soothes the skin, while the baking soda relieves the itchiness.  Valor will calm all the things running around in your head. Before you start your bath, bring in your Desert Mist or Lantern Diffuser (placing a safe distance from your bath),  Place several  drops of Stress Away or Lavender in there; start it running, making sure to set the light to candlelight flicker.  Now you’ve created the mood to surround yourself with, get your bath going and take a nice long soak.  Your body and mind will be thankful.

Supplies

  • 1/4 powdered milk
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup of oat flour
  • 10 drops Valor
  • 6 drops Frankincense
  • 4 drops Lavender

Mix it all in a bowl, blending the ingredients together.  This is for one beautiful soak; just add it all into your hot bath.  If you are giving this as a gift, put it in a pretty jar with a label, making note that it will be good for at least 6 months, although the essential oils may fade over time.  Sometimes, I just add a little sample bottle with the oil blend in it so that they will have enough to create an extra bath or to boost the soothing bath soak that I gifted them.  I like giving gifts that keep on giving.

Homemade Aftershave

This recipe comes from Lindsey Gremont over at Homemade Mommy.  I started watching her on YouTube and reading her blog years ago and have loved learning from her.  Not wanting to forget that oils are for our guys too, she made up this recipe for her husband to use as an aftershave lotion.

Supplies

  • 15 drops Eucalyptus Radiata
  • 5 drops Idaho Blue Spruce
  • 1-2 drops Peppermint
  • 10 drops Valor
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

Instructions

Gently melt the coconut oil in a double boiler or use a glass measuring cup sitting in a small pot of a couple of inches of simmering water. Remove from heat once melted and let cool but not harden. Add your oils and blend. You can whip it also if you like a different texture. Transfer to a small glass container with a lid. Apply to freshly shaven skin as your aftershave.

Swaggering Pirate Cologne

Maybe your husband is like mine and uses an electric razor to shave.  This doesn’t irritate his skin the way that it did with a razor blade and he doesn’t need a heavier aftershave.  For him, this is great to use when he wants a bit of fragrance without all of the nasty toxic chemicals from traditional colognes.  We need to take care of our guys too in keeping them from overloading their systems with all of the unknowns in store bought toiletries.

Supplies

  • Empty 5-ml essential oil bottle. Hint: If you use one of your empties that has
a drop or two left in it from the oils that are in this recipe, you won’t need to
clean it out. Just take the label off of it, using a drop of Lemon EO to take any
residue tackiness off of the bottle, and swipe with Thieves cleaner to take the
    oil off.
  • V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or carrier oil of choice
  • AromaGlide Roller Fitment
  • Oils Needed:
    15 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
    8 drops Patchouli Essential Oil
    5 drops Valor Essential Oil
    5 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

Or maybe he wants a Burly Lumberjack Cologne instead of the Pirate cologne. Treat your man and make both!

  • Oils Needed:
    12 drops of Juniper
    12 drops Cypress
    12 drops Pine
    2 drops Peppermint

Instructions:

  1. Combine the oils in the empty bottle. Add more or less of the oils in the combination that you like. This is a personal scent so make it the way that you like it. You want to aim for 30-45 drops of oils in total.
  2. Once you like how the oils blend together, fill the rest of the bottle with your carrier oil.
  3. Insert the roller fitment and put the cap on.
  4. Add label if you like.
  5. Apply to wrists and neck.
  6. Smell amazing

Sleepy Time Roll-on

Sometimes we just need a little help to get into slumberland, and more importantly staying there through the night. This blend works great for me to keep by my bedside when I have stayed up too late watching something that gets my brain going instead of calming down. You think that I would have learned by now to back off of those late night crime dramas!

Supplies

15 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
10 drops Valor Essential Oil
10 ml Roll On

Instructions

With the roller top off add into your 10 ml roller all of your oils. Swirl around to blend in a clockwise motion. Top off with your favorite carrier oil. Place roller back on. I like to use this on the bottom of my feet, back of my neck or on my wrists,

Roll-On Recipes with Valor

These are always fun to mix up and give as gifts.  They tuck into Christmas Stockings easily, fit well in the arm of a stuffed animal or make a nice addition to any gift basket that you put together.  Look around the website.  There are a lot of different ones to make to fit your needs.

In a 10 ml roll-on bottle, add your drops of oil, gently swirling in a a clockwise motion to blend. Top off with your favorite carrier oil.     Try V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex
